The 20th Century represents and major shift in the thinking of the societies more then the scale of the renaissance. With the industrial revolution or the
use of machine over man power, the thinking of civilizations around the world
changed. New ways of construction, new ideas of how to make things, new materials from which to make things added to the new possibilities. Hundreds of years of intensive experimentation with beauty, balance and esthetic perfection created a situation in which architects were faced with the 'what to we do now' situation. There were those who pioneered different ways of building, adopted different philosophies of construction for 'modern needs', the 'mass production' the modular construction, etc. There were those who tried to use the best of the old styles and merge those into a modern need for use of space. The twentieth century marked a crossroads of old and new that would lay the foundation for today's building standards.
