The Baroque style was more a return to the gothic strategy of extreme ornamentation and used both sculpture and painting in harmony.

It retained much of the classical facade elements used in the Palladian style with less emphasis on the huge columns and a more 'organic' treatment of stone.

This represents the artisans mastery over the materials, the artists mastery over their craft and the Churches continued wealth.

They could literally create whatever had come before, or parties there of, and chose to create structures of more refinement of line, more organic qualities to lessen the severity of the structures and make them feel more inviting.

These buildings were the definition of luxurious, a treat to the eye from any angle.
