The Early Christian Style evolved from Rome when Christ was crucified and the followers held meetings in any available house or shed, to the Greek town of Byzantine, later known as Constantinople.

The Early Christian style then became more formalized and evolved into the 'Byzantine style' within a few years of stability in Constantinople.
