The Gothic style is the end of hundreds of years of experimentation and building styles to make the perfect church for the Christian faithful.

They took the best of the basilica design, combined a vaulted ceiling, flying buttresses to take the weight off of the vertical stone walls, lots of vertical multi story stained glass windows for light, a mastery over the arch and dome and put it all together with a tasteful application of both paintings and sculpture to make some of the most inspirational architecture ever built.

The Gothic style took technical expertise in all of the arts to accomplish as elements were used as embellishments both inside and outside the structures.
